Rye & Roam began as the shared dream of two friends, one a Brooklyn native with a deep appreciation for the borough's rustic, old-world bakeries, and the other, a world traveler obsessed with discovering the perfect cup of coffee. They stumbled upon an old, abandoned machine shop in Bushwick, drawn to its exposed brick and soaring ceilings. It was there that they decided to blend their two worlds: a commitment to the time-honored crafts of baking and brewing, and a restless spirit of discovery.
The name “Rye & Roam” became a simple mission statement. "Rye" honors their devotion to heritage grains and authentic ingredients, a nod to the simple, nourishing food that has defined generations. "Roam" represents their constant search for new ideas and flavors, from the single-origin beans they source to the globally-inspired dishes on their ever-changing menu.
